Apple Crisp
I got this recipe from Chuck's mom, only I increased the topping amount so I could put some of it on the bottom as well as the top.
Recipe:
6 medium apples, cored and sliced or 1 quart bottled apples or apple sauce.
Topping:
1½ C brown sugar
1 C and 2 Tbs flour
1 C and 2 Tbs oats
1½ tsp cinnamon
1½ tsp nutmeg
¾ C melted butter
Table or heavy cream (optional)
Mix all but butter together thoroughly. Add melted butter and combine. You want small to medium lumps. Butter 9x13 pan and spread 1/3 of the topping on the bottom of pan. Pour apples on this and add remaining topping evenly over apples. Bake at 375° for 35-45 min. Serve with cream to pour over the top.
