Homemade Chocolate Ice-Milk

I got this recipe from my friend, Karla, in Wisconsin.  You can adjust the amount of cocoa in the chocolate syrup to your liking.  I like it made with 1 C cocoa, but my son, Chad, who made this batch likes it with 1 1/2 C cocoa.


Recipe:

1 3/4 C Dana's Chocolate Syrup or Hershey's
1 C sugar
1/3 C sugar + 1/4 C corn starch + 1/4 C powdered milk + 1/4 tsp salt OR
1 large box instant vanilla pudding
1 quart heavy cream
3-4 quarts whole milk

Whisk everything together, put in 6 qt. ice-cream canister and add whole milk to the fill line or until your canister is about 2/3 full. Freeze according to your ice-cream freezer directions.
