Mrs. Chuck's Chocolate Field Chip Cookies

Ok, so there's a story behind the name.  We used to use two different recipes for our chocolate chip cookies because some liked one and some liked the other.  One recipe was my husband's, Chuck's Chocolate Chip Cookies.  The other was Mrs. Fields Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe.  One day my sons, Chad and Chase, were being crazy and they decided to make cookies but they couldn't decide which recipe to use so they decided to combine them and this is what they came up with and this is what they named them.  They are now our favorite chocolate chip cookies.

Recipe:

2 cups butter, softened
2¼ cups brown sugar
¾ cup white sugar
4 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 teaspoon butter flavoring
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1½ teaspoons salt
5 cups flour
18 ounces chocolate chips

Mix first 5 ingredients together until smooth and creamy. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Drop by tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheet.  Bake at 375°F for 8-10 minutes.

For mint: substitute 5 ounces mini chocolate chips and 10 ounces Andes mint pieces for the chocolate chips.

For Gluten-free: substitute 4½ cups gluten-free flour for the flour and add ¾ teaspoon Xanthan Gum.  Use all brown sugar. Whisk together all dry ingredients before adding to the wet ingredients.
