Kettle Corn
It's easy to make your own kettle corn. But you just about need to wear armor because it's hard not to get burned when you make it. My son, Austin, is really good at making this.
Recipe:
¼ C coconut oil
½ C popcorn kernels
¼ C powdered sugar
2 Tbs granulated sugar or sucanut
salt to taste
Heat oil and popcorn on
high heat until corn begins to pop. Add sugars and stir until they
begin to pop again. Wear long sleeves and hot pad gloves. Hold lid over pan as well as you can while stirring constantly with long wooden
spoon until corn is almost all popped. Quickly remove from heat and pour into a bowl.
It's easier with a helper. Sprinkle salt to taste and stir. Let
cool and break apart.
1 brown paper lunch bag
1Tbs coconut oil
1/3 C popcorn kernels
4 Tbs powdered sugar
1/2 tsp salt
4 Tbs powdered sugar
1/2 tsp salt
Mix all together in a bowl and pour into paper bag. fold top of bag over twice by about 1 inch. Place in microwave and cook on high from 1:45-2:45 minutes, depending on your microwave. If there are a lot of unpopped corn you can put them back in the bag and cook them again alone so your popcorn doesn't burn and you don't start a fire.
You can make regular popcorn like this as well with or without butter or add melted butter afterwards.
