Spicy Basil Pork (Pad Ka-Prao)
Another delicious Thai recipe and very easy!
Recipe:
2 tablespoons oil
2 tablespoons chopped garlic
1 shallot, sliced
1-2 tablespoons chopped Thai chilies
1 pound ground pork (or chicken)
1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
2 tablespoons fish sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
1-2 tablespoons regular soy sauce
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 cup chicken stock
1-2 teaspoons cornstarch (optional)
1/2 cup sliced red bell pepper (optional)
1 cup Thai basil leaves
Mix sauce ingredients together. Heat oil in wok on high. Add garlic and shallot and stir-fry until lightly brown. Add chilies and meat and stir-fry until it begins to release it's juice. Add mushrooms and stir-fry a minute then add fish sauce, oyster sauce and dark soy sauce and stir-fry a minute. Add sugar and chicken stock. Add bell pepper and basil leaves and stir-fry for a few seconds, until basil is wilted. Serve with rice.
