Basic Sweet & Sour Sauce
This is a basic recipe for Chinese sweet & sour sauce that I made. You could substitute another vinegar like rice vinegar for the white vinegar or use pineapple juice instead of water or add garlic powder or anything else to make it less basic if you desire. This recipe is so easy!
Recipe:
1 1/2 tablespoons corn starch
3/4 cup cold water
3 ounces tomato paste
1/2-3/4 cup white sugar or part brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce
1/2 cup white vinegar
Dissolve cornstarch in cold water or juice. Add to sauce pan or frying pan and turn heat to medium-high. Add the rest of the ingredients and whisk to combine. Bring to boil, stirring occasionally for 1-2 minutes.
