Pineapple Sauce for Ham
I don't remember where I got this recipe. We've been using it for years. Bake a bone-in ham, using this sauce to baste it with and serve the rest on the side. So Delicious!
Recipe:
3/4 cup water, divided
1 cup brown sugar or sucanut
4 1/2 teaspoons soy sauce
4 1/2 teaspoons ketchup
1 1/2 teaspoons dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups canned pineapple, undrained and blended
2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon cornstarch
Combine 1/4 cup water, brown sugar, soy sauce, ketchup, mustard, salt and pineapple. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer 10 minutes. Combine cornstarch and 1/2 cup water until smooth and whisk into pineapple sauce. Bring to a boil.
