Cheesy Pretzel Rolls
My daughter, Alyse, makes these. She got the recipe from a friend for the rolls and found the cheese stuffing idea on the internet. They are really good.
Recipe:
4 C hot water
2 Tbs yeast
1 Tbs salt
1/2 C sugar
8-9 C flour (1/2 hard wheat and 1/2 bread)
8 oz whole milk mozzarella cheese, cut in 40 cubes
soda water:
1/3 C baking soda
3 C water
garlic butter:
1 cube butter
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp Italian seasoning
For garlic butter, melt butter and mix with garlic and seasoning. Dissolve baking soda in water. Preheat oven to 450°F. For the dough, mix everything together but the flour and cheese. Add flour until it cleans the sides of the bowl. Knead 10 minutes. Let it rise 10-20 minutes. Separate dough into 40 balls. Working with one at a time, flatten balls, place a cheese cube in the center and shape it around the cheese. Dip each ball in the water and place about 2 inches apart on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake about 10-15 minutes. Remove from oven and brush generously with garlic butter.
